Maniototo 4WD Safaris Customised Tours

Various other tours can be arranged including conference, photographic, farm or eco tours varying in length from full to half day. Pick up points can be anywhere on the Maniototo or elsewhere in Central Otago by arrangement with John.

Tours can be coordinated to include connection with the celebrated Central Otago Rail Trail. The site of the once important railway link to Cromwell, the Rail Trail is a 150 km gravel path for walkers, cyclists and horse riders. The trail, like John’s tours, takes in schist rock, parched hills, tussock grasses, spectacular mountains, pioneer settlements and goldfields.

Farm tours
These tours can include custom journeys into the remote tussock lands of the Maniototo, scene of the Country Calendar television documentary on the annual Two Syndicates and Kyeburn Station autumn muster or to local farms on the Maniototo Plain, including deer farms, high country merino farms and stud sheep farms. These can include fat lamb production, as well as large dairy farms.

Eco Tours
Can incorporate trips into the Rock and Pillar Range, alpine vegetation, flora and fauna.

Photography/Painting Tours
We are very pleased to put together tours for photographers and artists who want to expand their portfolios to include the rarely seen aspects of the Maniototo.

Conference Tours
We can cater for any size party coming to the Maniototo for a conference who want to do something unusual and different, either as a half or full day tour.
Your personalised experience means you are the only guests on the tour. You have the flexibility of your own schedule, departure time, stop off points and return times.
